Note: Encourage students to say the picture name then listen for the vowel digraph in the picture
name.
Remember, In a vowel digraph combination the first vowel usually makes the long vowel sound
while the second vowel is silent. The vowel digraph "ai." makes the sound you hear in the word
mail.
