Students will get practice in identifying consonant sounds at the initial and final positions and substituting initial/final consonants to form new words. They will recognize/spell short vowels in one syllable words, substitute short vowels in one syllable words to form new words and identify rhyming words. Worksheets will also provide practice in identifying/decoding long vowels in words ending in silent "e", identifying and decoding consonant blends at the initial/final positions and substituting initial/final consonant blends to form new words. Other topics include identifying consonant digraph at the initial and final positions, decoding/spelling words with consonant digraph, identifying/decoding words with vowel digraphs and identifying/decoding words with vowel diphthongs.
